About the Engineering Organization:
The Engineering Team at Loop is a balance of agility, consistency, and performance. These are the pillars that allow the team to constantly and reliably deliver value that matters to customers. That customer intimacy is what allows our engineering teams to be the best in our space, and bring the best ideas to the market.
About the Role:
We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional product team at Loop. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the team’s technical direction, delivery, structure, delivery, and overall health. You’ll support and grow an autonomous, self-managing, high-performing team while partnering closely with product and design to build valuable, high-quality software. You’ll balance features, tech debt, support, and innovation work, and make decisions that align with Loop’s broader vision and engineering standards.
You’ll hold formal authority over your team’s roadmap, backlog, technical direction, and hiring decisions, while actively seeking input from your team and stakeholders. You’ll be expected to drive strong execution, clear communication, and a culture of trust and accountability. Above all, you’ll lead with empathy, model Loop’s values, and help your team stay focused on what matters most.
You’ll serve as one-third of the product trifecta (Engineering, Product, Design), so success in this role depends on your ability to collaborate effectively, communicate proactively, and build trust with your counterparts. This role is highly autonomous, and we expect our managers to be curious, decisive, and action-oriented; someone who looks ahead, adjusts course early, and keeps the right people informed throughout.
Our Blended Work Environment:
At Loop, we’re intentional about the way we work so that we can do our best work. We call this our Blended Working Environment. We work from our HQ in Columbus, OH, or one of our Hub or Secluded locations, and are distributed throughout the United States, select Canadian provinces, and the United Kingdom. For this position, we’re looking for someone to join us in Columbus, OH; Chicago, IL; Austin, TX; Los Angeles, CA; or fully remote.
Our Tech Stack:
While we use certain core technologies at Loop, the exact tech stack each team uses varies. To give you an idea of what you might work with should you join us, here are some examples:PHP/Laravel, Vue.js, MySQL, DynamoDB, Kubernetes, AWS, Serverless.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and grow an autonomous, high-performing, self-managing, and inclusive engineering team through strong coaching, clear expectations, and thoughtful structure.
  • Own your team’s technical direction, backlog priorities, and delivery processes; balancing input from the team, stakeholders, and company strategy.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality software that balances features, tech debt, support, and innovation.
  • Hold the team accountable to engineering fundamentals like test-driven development, SOLID principles, and sustainable delivery practices. This will be done through a deep inspection of the technical output of the team.
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to shape the roadmap, estimate confidently, and communicate decisions clearly.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, visibility, and healthy communication across your team and with stakeholders.
  • Champion Loop’s mission and values through your leadership, decision-making, and everyday interactions.

Your Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience managing high-performing, product-focused software engineering teams, with a track record of delivering business value.
  • Recent hands-on experience as a software engineer, with the technical depth to engage in architectural decisions and mentor developers.
  • Strong grasp of Agile software principles, including SCRUM, with a history of shipping high-quality software through iterative, incremental delivery.
  • Proven ability to balance competing priorities, manage stakeholder expectations, and make thoughtful tradeoffs under real-world constraints.
  • Deep understanding of modern software architecture and delivery practices, including test-driven development and scalable system design.
  • Experience in SaaS, startup, or ecommerce environments is highly desirable and will help you ramp up quickly.
  • Known for building trust through clear communication, consistent values, and a feedback-rich culture of accountability and performance.

Loop Story
In a perfect world, Loop wouldn't exist. If we had our way, we'd live in a world where we're mindful about how we consume, we love every product we own, and we share values with the brands who create them. In reality, commerce isn't perfect and often breaks. Loop creates second chances.
We're starting by revolutionizing the post-purchase experience. We've taken one of the most fragile commerce interactions - returns - and turned it into something consumers actually love, and that deepens our connection to brands and products.
We take connection seriously on the inside, too. We're building a work experience that allows you to Be A Human First and prioritizes empathy and wellbeing. We view Loop as a special place in your career to shape the future of an industry and become a better person while doing it. You can grow faster here in a shorter amount of time - we'll give you space and trust you to fill it.
