Lucid is seeking a talented and experienced Associate Contracts Negotiator with expertise in supporting a commercial sales team and customer relationships within the SaaS technology industry. The role involves drafting and negotiating customer facing SaaS contracts and advising our Sales team on all legal matters.

The role reports to the Sr. Counsel, Sr. Commercial Manager and would ideally be located in our Salt Lake City, UT or Raleigh, NC office for hybrid work.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, draft, and negotiate SaaS subscription and other commercial documents, including NDAs, order forms, and other customer documentation.
  • Provide exceptional support to our global sales teams by maintaining quick turnaround times, high quality work and driving deals to closure.
  • Advise business stakeholders regarding relevant issues and risks in our commercial contracts, and ensure our agreements reflect our internal corporate policies and processes.
  • Proactively contribute to the formulation of playbook positions and the continuous improvement of department processes and templates.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to shape and improve Lucid’s sales and contracting processes to enable both legal and business functions to scale effectively.
  • Exercise a high degree of independent judgment and discretion in helping Lucid’s legal department support our business teams.
  • Maintain, compile and analyze data related to Lucid’s contractual rights and obligations, contract performance, and compliance to report to management.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree and 3+ years relevant experience drafting and negotiating software licensing, SaaS, non-disclosure agreements and contract administration/management.
  • Experience supporting sales departments as an internal client, especially in the subscription and/or SaaS technology industry.
  • Prior use of Salesforce, including navigating workflows, reviewing opportunities, and using custom objects.
  • Have a clear understanding of legal and business issues with the ability to assess risks, communicate those risks to business partners in plain English, and solicit management’s involvement at appropriate points in the contract process.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and senior-level negotiation skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Detail-oriented, organized with strong computer skills and the willingness to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude.
  • Curious and motivated to elevate Lucid’s legal department to the next level.
  • Willingness to take initiative, be accountable and interface with Lucid’s customers and business partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with using automated contract maintenance tools.
  • Prior involvement with implementing new tools, systems, and processes, and facilitating change management of the same.
  • Experience with creating and delivering training, especially for sales teams.
