About the Team

The Financial Operations (FinOps) team at Nomad powers the core of our business: guaranteed owner payments. FinOps works closely with customer success, sales, engineering, product, and other teams across the org to deliver our mission of unlocking economic opportunity for everyone in the long-term rental community. As our company grows and changes, so do our procedures. As a part of this team, you will partner with our Finance Operations Manager to develop those processes and procedures and witness the real-time impact they have on Nomad!

About the Role

We’re looking for a Property Bookkeeper who is excited about running Nomad’s day-to-day operational accounting. This is a role for someone who will thrive exemplifying Nomad’s core values as they work with internal teams, property owners, residents, and vendors. If you’re passionate about real estate tech, want to develop some well-rounded operational expertise, and desire to be part of a generation-defining business, this role could be for you!

In the role, you’ll:

  • Conduct property-level bookkeeping duties in AppFolio, including:
    • Rent collection, utility payment management, and security deposit collection/return
    • Owner and vendor payments, statement preparation, and new owner/property onboarding
    • Internal accounting requests (issuing concessions, refunding tenants, passing through charges from tenants to owners, etc)
    • Weekly bank reconciliations
    • Identifying and fixing bookkeeping errors
    • Approving payment batches (for specific scenarios and up to a threshold)
  • Support the Finance Operations Manager with various duties, including:
    • Monthly reporting to close the books
    • Corporate invoicing
    • Issuing 1099s
    • Training other team members
    • Writing SOPs
    • Owner and tenant support
    • Implementing process improvements
  • Be an owner and resident champion by helping our sales and success teams deliver seamless onboarding and support experiences
  • Systematically improve process efficiencies and bookkeeping accuracy

Who you are

  • 3+ years of general work experience
  • Work experience in a fast-paced environment balancing multiple detail-oriented tasks and responsibilities (i.e. start-up company)
  • Work experience in accounting or bookkeeping is a plus
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Experience using a suite of software solutions to accomplish your work (AppFolio, Salesforce, Quickbooks, Hubspot, Bill.com, etc.)
  • High attention to detail, particularly as it relates to numbers
  • Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to handle many different requests and projects in a fast-paced environment without losing track of commitments or priorities
  • Deep curiosity to constantly ask questions, learn from errors, and seek opportunities to learn new things
  • Experience using analytical approaches to develop, measure, and evolve processes
  • Ability to lean into ambiguous problems, collect feedback and buy-in from stakeholders, and design and execute solutions
  • Excellent project management skills - you are comfortable executing a new project, with different stakeholders and collaborators, from beginning to end effectively
  • Desire to mentor and support others on your team

Where you'll be

This is a hybrid position and you would need to come to our downtown Denver office 3 times a week - or more if you like! We are surrounded by other tech companies, coffee shops, breweries, and restaurants.

Potential pay range: $28 - $36 / hour

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above. In addition to competitive base salary, Full-Time, non-contract roles are also eligible for equity.
