Role Overview

The Member Experience Lead will spearhead a team dedicated to supporting the mental wellbeing of high school students. This role combines leadership with a deep understanding of teen culture, requiring someone who can manage and inspire a team, while also creating dynamic strategies that engage young people.

As a player/coach, you will regularly act as a Wellbeing Companion for young people by providing support via texting. We do not provide clinical care or therapy, think of this role more like a supportive friend or a cool older sibling. Support includes:

  • 2+ evening shifts during the week. After school is when our members are most active
  • Proactive outreach based on flags from our machine learning models
  • Proactive check-ins based on member preferences
  • Conversations based on inbound requests from members

The ideal candidate will be a natural community builder, passionate about mental health, and adept at fostering connections that drive positive outcomes for our members.

  • You’re a pro at providing insightful, actionable feedback that lifts up everyone around you, especially your direct team.
  • You’ve got experience in a supervisory role and excel at managing team schedules to ensure optimal coverage.
  • You resolve conflicts with grace and before they become a big hairy monster.

About Sonar

Sonar is a mission-driven startup founded out of Stanford that is making mental health support more preventative and accessible for students. We use a mixture of peer counselors and AI to provide 24/7 mental health support via text messages. We also help identify challenges earlier using social media activity. Our goal is to make sure no student goes unsupported and to relieve stress on overworked school staff.

We support thousands of K-12 students across the United States and are backed by leading institutions such as Stanford University, Alpine Social Ventures, 500 Global Lightspeed and others.

Compensation

  • Cash: Competitive
