Unlike fintech lenders and for-profit banks that often issue high-interest loans, credit unions operate as non-profit lenders offering lower cost loans. Design is a vital organization at Clutch. Seamless user experience is a key differentiator for Clutch in the credit-union industry. By radically improving the banking experience at the credit union we are enabling an average American consumer to save thousands of dollars in debt that can be used towards meaningful life goals.
Credit unions want to enhance the consumer experience but are new to this domain. This requires deep customer empathy and thinking holistically about the end to end consumer experience (B2C) as well as the credit union processing experience (B2B). This is why we are building a team of talented folks who thrive on problem solving through design and love close customer collaboration. We are looking for an experienced and passionate Product Designer to own and drive forward the Core Product experience at Clutch which consists of lending and deposit account opening products. This person will be strong at both design craft and execution. You will set the foundation for the new design system for the company as well as shape the direction of our lending products. You will be a user and customer champion and a trusted partner to colleagues across the company. You will work alongside a top-notch multi-disciplined team to shape the future of digital products at credit unions.
Set the Foundation for Clutch Design system along with the designers on the team
Lead the design for new features and enhancements ensuring seamless user (consumer) as well as customer(credit union) experience
Directly conduct user research and usability testing to ground designs in user and customer insights Design multiple concepts and prototypes rapidly, understanding when to apply a visionary approach, detail-oriented approach, or when to make low-fi sketches
Partner with engineering to have a working understanding of technical systems in order to creatively scope prioritization & trade-offs
Apply a deep understanding of our customers and the market directly in designing products ensuring we are driving consumer innovation and yet building for customer needs.
Stay up-to-date with the latest lending technologies and trends in the US market.
Report directly to the ‘Head of Product ’ to shape a strong human centered design culture at Clutch
Skillset you will bring
Expertise in design craft and quality with a strong product sensibility- whether it’s visual or interaction design, typography, or pixel perfect deliverables
You bring a wealth of knowledge around interaction design principles, up to date trends, and usability heuristics
Experience in designing complex B2B (or B2B2C products) demonstrated by a strong portfolio or alternate mechanisms
Excellent understanding of user-centered design principles and a strong eye for visual design
Proven capability to balance user and business needs, the right balance of rigor and scrappiness.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, startup environment
Experience conducting user research and translating insights into design solutions
5+ years of experience in product design with focus on fintech products. B2B2C experience is a bonus
